Russia has seen a peak in Corona deaths since the beginning of the pandemic, with more than 800 deaths per day. 808 people died within one day in connection with the virus, the authorities announced on Thursday (Aug. 12). They have been reporting high death tolls on many days for weeks – despite a drop in the number of new infections. On Thursday, nearly 22000 new cases were reported nationwide. At times in July, there were nearly 7000 more new infections. In Russia, with its population of about 146 million, the delta variant, which is considered particularly contagious, is spreading rapidly.
